Three days of round tables, networking and meetings between creators, producers and distributors
The opening ceremony in the cloister of San Sebastian´s San Telmo Museum was attended by the Mayor of San Sebastian, Juan Karlos Izagirre, the Minister for Economic Development and Competitiveness, Arantxa Tapia, the Director of the San Sebastian Festival, José Luis Rebordinos, and the Director of Programmes at Red.es, Francisco Javier García Vieira.

In the words of Arantxa Tapia: "not only is the Festival an important cultural rendezvous, it is also a place where the audiovisual industry can and must go about business and exchange experiences. Our commitment to the Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum is the best example of all this. The Basque Government backs and supports establishment of the Forum as a meeting place for members of the industry across the globe, a place where film producers, directors and institutes come together. The initiative coincides with our endeavours to consolidate a modern and competitive audiovisual sector in the Basque Country".

In his speech, Francisco Javier García Vieira expressed his desire that the Co-production Forum "will continue to attract great numbers, attended every year by increasingly more companies of different origins in search of high quality audiovisual products". García Vieira also recalled the importance of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector and of Digital Contents for the economy of the country, given that it is composed of "30,000 companies and 400,000 professionals, who generate an annual turnover of more than €100,000 million".

José Luis Rebordinos expressed his desire that "this cloister will constitute a work place for industry professionals, a place to make contacts, move projects and films and do business”, and his hope that the projects presented at the forum "can complete their funding and achieve promotion for their international launch, also thanks to the agreement with our partners at the Marché du Film Producers Network in Cannes and Ventana Sur".

Finally, Juan Karlos Izagirre has stressed that "it is a honor to the city of San Sebastian to host the Forum" and that, "as European Capital of Culture 2016, the city also committed to culture as economic driver".

This second edition of the Forum will run for three days on the same dates as Films in Progress, thereby converting San Sebastian into an important rendezvous for members of the audiovisual industry.

For three days, those responsible for the projects will present them to international industry professionals thanks to an intense agenda of meetings. The aim of their time at the Forum will be to establish contacts with potential co-producers and sales agents in the hope that the latter will join their projects to guarantee their production and international distribution.
